Animal Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation. Rehab encompasses a lot. Certified technicians are trained to closely assist the veterinarian in performing rehabilitation, neurological and orthopedic examinations including obtaining objective data such as joint and muscle measurements, analyze and quantify gait and posture abnormalities, apply rehabilitative therapies and modalities, utilize manual therapy techniques, therapeutic exercises, hydrotherapy, regenerative medicine, assistive devices, and orthotics & prosthetics. The integration of principles of anatomy, biomechanics, exercise physiology, and disease processes to help increase or repair the physical mobility of patients. Manage and prevent injuries and pain associated with rehabilitation, performance, and sports medicine. Execute comprehensive rehabilitation programs for a variety of disorders, including orthopedic, neurologic, medical, hospice, and palliative cases. Execute appropriate conditioning programs in rehabilitation and sports medicine are all just a few aspects of rehabilitation!

My focus in the realm of rehabilitation is to support owners in their own homes with their pets rehab program. Traveling to a facility can be daunting depending on what the pets condition is. Working with the at home excercise plans, provide at home therapies and modalities, provide updates to the veterinarian on what is working for the patient, help monitor success for athletes and comfort levels for those with palliative care needs are all in my wheelhouse! I love teaching owners how to help their pets at home and I also love to do the work for the owners too! Sometimes having someone else take on the rehab care of their pet can increase the bond the owner has with their pet.

Animal Care

Beyond basic husbandry and grooming services, all medical cases should be discussed and followed up with the client’s veterinarian. I believe in having a working relationship between the veterinarian, client/patient and myself…all of our goals should be the same. A healthy, happy, and balanced life.

Coaching sessions are available to help you feel more confident as an owner. These sessions are customized but not limited to topics such as: what to expect with a new puppy/kitten, introducing a new pet to the home, what to expect from a visit with the vet, what does it mean to have blood work done, what does a spay/neuter surgery encompass, how to crate train my dog, how to trim my cats nails, how to clean ears, etc. These sessions are for you to feel empowered and confident as a pet owner and keep your pet getting the balanced care they need.
